In August 2024, the founder of the Berry Museum, Dr. med. P.R. Berry IV, staff member Cornelia Schwab, and filmmaker and author Alexander Kluge met spontaneously for a conversation in Sils Maria. This intensive exchange laid the foundation for the "Kluge-Berry Workshop" exhibition. It showcases previously unknown works by the painter and new works by Alexander Kluge that comment on those paintings.

Kluge’s works are inspired, among other things, by Aby Warburg’s Mnemosyne Atlas and his War Cartotheque. These kinds of constellations form the fundamental interest of the workshop taking shape here. The exhibition begins as a work in progress at the turn of the year 2024/25 in the basement of the new wing of the Berry Museum. The workshop character allows for ongoing work during the exhibition, enabling further collaborations with other artists and the commentary on other artworks.

The "Kluge-Berry Workshop" invites visitors to experience art and history from new and challenging perspectives—visually striking, intellectually profound, and timelessly relevant.

Alexander Kluge, one of the great intellectuals of our time, interprets the work and life of Peter Robert Berry II in a visionary way. Previously unknown works by the painter, as well as pieces by Alexander Kluge that comment on these paintings, are on display. The themes include "Longue Durée," "Violence and War," "The Elegance of Animals in Defying Gravity," and the Engadin. In honor of the painter’s father, the regimental doctor and co-founder of the spa town of St. Moritz, P.R. Berry I, who served in the First Crimean War (1853–1856), image sequences related to this war are also featured. The exhibition presents paintings on aluminum and wood, monitors, and an installation as a multi-projection titled: "Utopia Keeps Getting Better While We Wait for It."

The SPIEGEL literary canon from October 2024 names his book "Chronicle of Emotions" among the hundred best since 1924. He published the book "December" with Gerhard Richter, in which Richter shows pictures from December in Engadin and Kluge wrote stories for every December day. The current book with the painter Anselm Kiefer "Klugheit ist die the art of remaining faithful under different circumstances" was published by Suhrkamp Verlag in November this year. The volume "Der Konjunktiv", published by Spector Books in Leipzig, also dates from this year. "The Subjunctive of Images". An exhibition at e-flux in New York in June 2024 was based on the English English edition of this book and four related film and exhibition film and exhibition evenings entitled "The Dragonfly's Eye".
